Sickly
Eight days of work unexpectedly fell into my lap. Nice. I've got something to keep me busy before classes start. However, hour after hour of being hunched over people's arms can break your back. Oh. A guy's lips turned pasty white after I took his blood this afternoon. His face drained of color and I think he was on the verge of passing out. It turned out that aside from being overly nervous about the extraction, he hadn't eaten anything yet. (and it was past lunch time!)
Tomorrow will be another day of sticking needles in people's arms. I will just have to figure out how to commute from my house to that university. (Thanks to Kata for the sort-of directions you gave me. They helped! Really!
)Someone else isn't feeling too well.
Misinterpretation sucks, doesn't it?

Yadda-yadda
Orientation was today. It was fun. I'm always hyper during those things.
...
It was nice to see you again. And it was a pleasant surprise to see that you finally found yourself after two years.
Were you impressed?
Er. Hmm.
...
I was looking around the auditorium and was feeling pretty happy about everything. I saw something that wiped the smile off my face. The word on my mind: Shit! I just hope we don't cross each other's paths so much.
Sock it to me.

The birthday was a blast.

Three songs. Unexpected, but enjoyed. Not the usual stuff, but appreciated.

Tissue patting on stage.
Hrrrmm.

Light. Strong Ice. Tequila. Vodka Ice.

Pictures. Lots of pictures.

Time. The stroke of midnight. Nothing still.

Oh yeah, and more of those. MORE of those.

Change of scenery, change of mood. Turrrrrrons were the main players.

More pictures. More of THOSE pictures.

And then, the end.

Estranged
How will you ever cram (and by cram I mean read and understand and retain) all that knowledge into your mind in so little time?
I'm looking at my books and handouts.
I need to change my mindset. If I think that there is no possible way to actually study everything, then I won't be so disappointed when I take quizzes.
But I still have to fight! Fight! Fight!

Two words: Time management
(Ulk. I wasn't really so adept with that in college.)
People tell me it's dawn. I want it to be so. I believe it should be so -- but everything is going against everything else.
Why did this happen? Lord, I know things happen for a reason but why this? Why now?

I jumped a few years ahead.
You Are 29 Years Old |
29 Under 12: You are a kid at heart. You still have an optimistic life view - and you look at the world with awe. 13-19: You are a teenager at heart. You question authority and are still trying to find your place in this world. 20-29: You are a twentysomething at heart. You feel excited about what's to come... love, work, and new experiences. 30-39: You are a thirtysomething at heart. You've had a taste of success and true love, but you want more! 40+: You are a mature adult. You've been through most of the ups and downs of life already. Now you get to sit back and relax. |

Geeev meeee coffeeeee.
They were playing reggae music in the bus. 'Twas interesting because it was a bus from Quiapo. A real public utility vehicle actually playing decent, no, good music? That was a first for me. And it was a good first.
Hahaha. A GOOD FIRST. How ironic. Tah. It's a private joke between me and me.
I spent a good half hour of a two hour lecture fighting to keep my eyelids open. (Just hearing the words alkylglycerophospholipids and cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene -- who wouldn't fall asleep?) I was craving for coffee this afternoon. Even just the aroma would have kicked up my system. Ahhh. It frustrates me how there are no good coffee places near the UST Med building. Coffee Indulgence is much too far when you're only on a one hour break.
Hmm. I remember seeing a coffeemaker and a sign that said brewed coffee in that canteen we ate at during lunch. The fact that they serve brewed coffee is one big plus for me. Need to go back there. Hmm.
A nice suprise: One of my very good friends sent some cake over! Yahoo! My evening cuppa coffee won't be lonely tonight!
Effort.
Hehe. A blog of lots and lotsa chismis! Arriba!

Croak
Yesterday.
Was helped into my lab gown by a classmate. How nice. How gentlemanly.
We had some frog interaction during lab. I felt bad when we had to *pith the frog. It was squirming in my hands. Aww. Towards the end of the lab period however, there was no more feeling bad for the frog. We were cutting and stripping the skin off mercilessly. Time constraint does that to you.
Fun! Ulk.
And oh yeah, we started dissecting cadavers last week. Forgot to blog about that.
Today.
Harried. Things kept falling off my desk. The day turned out pretty okay considering that I forgot to do a lot of things the night before.
...
Siemens phone's aren't so bad. I think I want one.
Yuh.

Not for the soft-hearted
I have no qualms about dissection -- be it a frog, a cat, a shark or a chicken.
Cadavers are a slightly different story.
It was my first time to come face to face with a cadaver last, last week. As I walked toward the table, I got a little scared and had this immediate urge to pray for the person's soul. That's what our group did, and then I felt better.
However --
It seems that our body died a violent death because he's a bit darker than the other cadavers. It's been quite a task for us to uncover his nerves and arteries and veins. And there's some other smell coming from the body, aside from the overpowering smell of formalin. I don't mind doing the dissecting -- it just seems like it's harder for us because of the body's state. Maybe the body wasn't properly preserved? I don't know. The facilitator won't even come near our table to check our work. Hmm.
Oh well. We should learn to work with what we have, right?
Me, to my friend last Friday afternoon:
I don't really care where we go or what we do just as long as I get to watch a movie tonight -- any movie.
Pathetic. But hey I needed a HUGE break. Plus the last movie I watched was Guess Who. We ended up watching Batman Begins, which was great. I'm not a fan of Katie Holmes, though. The movie would have been better if they got a different actress to play her role. Her character was supposed to be strong, but her portrayal of it was bland. She was exactly how she was as that teenager in Dawson's Creek.
We had dinner at Rasa, a Singaporean place. Good food, although the service was a bit on the slow side. ("Two orders of Hainanese chicken, one crispy, one soy, roti, and two San Mig Lights. Pauna na po nung beer." Hehe.)
Which reminds me of the snail-service at The Pit along Dapitan. (The Pit... Da-pit-an. Waha.) It takes thirty minutes for them to serve your food. That's long. And it seems even longer when you're on a one hour break. But we keep going back there because they serve good food.
Oh. And I've already watched War of the Worlds. I thought it was good. I hear a lot of people saying they didn't like it because of the Huh? ending. I still think it was good.
