Pet Peeves
I’m irritated by people who use ellipses in place of periods in text messages. A typical message would look like this: “Good morning… Musta ka na? Walang magawa dito eh… Sana okay ka lang dyan…”

Ellipses signify the mind to think of something that the person is trying to imply. So what does good morning… mean? Good morning it’s a good day really I just wanted to tell you that? Good morning I hope you’re having a good morning because I’m not? Does walang magawa dito… actually mean that I have nothing better to do so here I am bothering you? Or I just want to waste my credits on nonsensical messages like this one? Ellipses leave me hanging. I hate that. And I dislike the fact that the person has to imply things instead of saying them outright like in: “okay lang ako…”. Why waste a peso on a message like that? Why not just say that I’m not doing well, I’m actually pretty sad right now. Or if you don’t want to bother a person with your troubles then why not just say something else? In addition, excessive use of ellipses signify (for me, at least) a weak character. Lame. Sordid. Someone who’ll suck your energy. Bah.
OH, AND!
I know the use of PO signifies respect but using it too much can actually sound like you’re mocking a person, most especially if that person’s your age. I just got a message from a groupmate asking po if I could bring copies of my part of the research paper po complete with bibliographies and references po tomorrow.
GAH!
So yes I’m irritated. Add to that the fact that this groupmate is also the same one who loves tapping me on the shoulder despite the numerous times I’ve told her I hated that. She doesn’t do it on purpose (I think). She just tries so hard to get on my good side but fails horribly.
So, yeah, back to what I was talking about – moderation is always the key. Moderation plus good sense and a sound knowledge of grammar. Haha.
